Ronnie's House led a groundbreaking effort under the 2020 Census Initiative to address the severe undercounting in North Long Beach, one of the most underserved communities in the area. Recognizing the critical need for accurate data to secure funding and resources, we implemented a multi-faceted approach to drive participation.
We launched a targeted social media campaign and collaborated with community partners to host a Pizza and Census Event, creating a welcoming environment where Census workers were able to count 140 households—representing hundreds of individuals—in less than 3 hours.
In addition, we produced viral videos in both Spanish and English to educate the community on the importance of Census participation and encourage engagement.
Impact
Because of these efforts, the accurate count helped secure millions of dollars in federal funding for the North Long Beach community. This funding directly supports essential programs, including housing, education, healthcare, and transportation services, ensuring long-term benefits for local families.
