LONG BEACH, CA – Reentry Keys 4th Annual Summit and Resource fair was a pivotal event dedicated to supporting returning citizens in their journey towards successful reintegration. It took place May 2nd and May 3rd, 2024, hosted by Ronnie’s House. Under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Shirin Senegal, who has been instrumental in advancing equity in reentry, cannabis equity, and small business development, this year’s summit promises to be an enlightening and empowering experience.
The State of Reentry Breakfast: “Pathways to Entrepreneurship” brought together community leaders, entrepreneurs, and reentry advocates for an inspiring conversation on the role of entrepreneurship in the reintegration process.
The session explored pathways to business ownership, access to resources, and strategies for supporting returning citizens as they launch and grow businesses. Attendees heard from inspiring leaders who shared their personal journeys from incarceration to successful entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, and community impact.
Ronnie’s House hosted the Reentry Keys Resource Fair, bringing together nonprofit organizations, workforce development providers, and government agencies to connect attendees with essential resources and opportunities.
The resource fair provided access to support services focused on starting a business, securing housing, accessing mental health resources, workforce development, and building pathways to successful reintegration. The event created a space for community members, returning citizens, and service providers to connect, collaborate, and share resources that strengthen reentry success.
The “Switch the Hustle” session empowered participants interested in entrepreneurship, skilled trades, and higher education opportunities. Attendees learned how to access funding, resources, and support systems needed to launch businesses and pursue new career pathways.
Ronnie’s House hosted a series of workshops designed for nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and probation partners. These sessions focused on strengthening organizational capacity through discussions on:
- Funding opportunities and sustainability strategies
- Integrating mental health support into reentry services
- Expanding entrepreneurship and workforce pathways
- Building stronger systems of support for individuals impacted by the justice system
